Gianni Campagna has cherished the idea of becoming an important tailor his whole life. As a child in Italy, he would go to the famous Taormina film festival to see Hollywood movies filled with legendary silver screen actors such as Cary Grant, Clarke Gable, Gary Cooper, and Humphry Bogart. The images of these classic movie stars in their double breasted suits and wide shouldered jackets; proved to be of irresistible charm for him. Campagna wanted to be a part of creating these images. This is how Gianni Campagna remembers forming his dream of becoming one of the most important tailors in the world, creating the image for movie stars and leaders of industry. This dream is the force behind his success.

At the age of 8, Campagna began working as an apprentice tailor in Sicily. In 1962, at the age of 18, Mr. Campagna apprenticed at the premier tailor shop of the era, Sartoria Domenico Caraceni, located in Piazza San Babila, Milan. While working for Caraceni, he attended courses on design and patterns for men at Secoli, and for ladies at Marangoni. In 1966, he won the Golden Needle Award for being the best tailor in Italy, and in 1968 he won the Golden Scissors Award for being Italy’s best pattern and fabric cutter.At the age of 28, Campagna went to work for Gruppo Finanziario Tessile, (GFT) one of the top ranking European menswear manufactures in the world. GFT is known for producing suits for widely recognized trademarks in the men’s fashion world like Armani, Valentino, Ungaro, and many others. Over the years, As Chief of the Pattern and Style Office for GFT, Campagna made major contributions to these famous brands including creating a revolutionary line of soft shouldered jackets, and in 1974, he designed their first casual wear line.sharonstone.jpg (17290 bytes)Campagna further worked his way to commercial success behind the scenes as Chief of Style and Director of Model Planning at Marzotto. After years of apprenticeship, training, and hard work, Campagna decided to spread his wings, implement his own vision, and open a boutique custom tailor shop in Milan, Italy. It was here that Campagna obtained immediate success, eventually expanding his reach to the United States and Japan.

Today, Gianni Campagna’s creations attract some of the most prestigious names in Hollywood and Wall Street. Sharon Stone, Pierce Brosnan, Jack Nicholson, Charleston Heston, Revlon’s Ron Perleman, KKR’s Henry Kravis, Snapple’s Nelson Peltz, and Mattel’s Bill Rollnick are a few famous faces that can be found wearing Gianni Campagna.
